Some news!

Things seem pretty much back to normal weather, water and power-wise, at least in our neck of the woods. I did manage to develop an infection in an old root canal. Saw the dentist and his verdict was a cracked root, so I will need yet another dental implant. This will be my third. Right next to the last one in fact. Fortunately, we have an excellent dental surgeon and my last implant went without a hitch. Probably does in any ideas of a vacation this year, though!

In other news, I got my first COVID vaccine yesterday.

And to top things off, I can now reveal something we've known about for a little while. This is our youngest grandchild-she is almost 14 months old and she is wearing her new shirt:

That's right-she is going to be a big sister late this summer!! We are very excited-this will be grandbaby #7 and the "tie-breaker". We have 3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons.

After the Storm

Sunny skies, temps in the 50's and snow just about gone. I'm really proud of, but not surprised by the way people in Texas have stepped up and helped each other through this storm. Been hearing many stories of people opening their homes, businesses and churches to those in need. Power and water employees have been working around the clock to return these necessities to everyone.  Restaurants and food companies giving away food to those who needed it. A story about a convenience store that left bottled water sitting outside when they had to close. When the owners reopened, they saw that yes, the water had been taken, but money had been pushed through the mail slot to pay for it. I've not heard about or read of any instances of break-ins or looting. What I have heard is that some people in this country have been laughing about how dumb Texans weren't prepared for this and what crybabies we are. Well, it's hard to prepare power grids and water supplies for something that almost never happens, and some things have been mishandled. But, people here have shown that their hearts are prepared to do what's right, for no other reason than because it's the right thing to do. Good folks and everyday heroes that you won't hear much about on the mainstream media. But that's ok. We know.

Brrr...still

Our daughter, son-in-law and grands came over yesterday and spent the night. They probably won't have power until Friday. It was -2 last night but should get up into the low 20's today.

My daughter and I were in the kitchen cooking breakfast this morning, the kids were playing, the dogs were happy and it occurred to me that we had a houseful of family and there was snow on the ground. I suggested that we should get out the tree and decorations and have Christmas all over again!!

She didn't think that was the least bit funny.....😂😂

Brrr

We have around 4 inches is snow, but it is COLD! At least for Texas. Right now, it's 11 and the sun is shining. We have power, but many, including our daughter and family don't and don't know when they will get it back. If the roads are passable, they will come out here. Even if we lose power, we have a fireplace and lots of wood! Tomorrow, the temps will be up in the 20's. More snow is on the way, but by this weekend, it will be in the 49's. Really glad this kind of weather is a rare occurrence here!

This is How We Do Winter in Texas

Actually, I am joking-this looks like a bad storm and we will be staying in after we sing at a funeral this afternoon! It will get down around 0 Monday night, which is extremely cold for us, and be bitterly cold most of next week-also supposed to get ice and 6 inches of snow. Every one stay safe and warm!

Mom and Dad

75 years ago today. My mom would be 96 now and my dad would be 105. So very thankful for their love for each other, for their family, and for them teaching us about the love of God.
