So It Begins...

...the decorating, that is. We got the tree up, fluffed and lit today.  It's a little early for us this year-I've always been a strict "not before December" girl. But I wanted to get it done sometime this coming week since my hubs will have a heart procedure done week after next and won't be able to do any heavy lifting for a few weeks. (He has an arrhythmia that needs to be corrected with an ablation.) He suggested that we go ahead and do the tree today. The rest I can do, but wrestling a 9 ft tree by myself? Nope.

We had rain yesterday and today and it is supposed to freeze tonight. We haven't had as pretty an autumn as we usually have. The oaks are stubbornly refusing to change colors. By now, we usually have deep maroon and gold leaves. They may just turn brown and fall off! It doesn't matter-as long as we can keep chugging along taking each day as it comes, working on getting healthier and enjoying our family.

A Good Day

Thanksgiving was a really good day. It was quieter than usual since we only had 8 people and no littles. They are coming for Christmas instead. Since I have been a little under the weather lately, I just made desserts and everyone else cooked the main meal. It was delicious! My brother came and we enjoyed a lot of "remember when" time. Now the house is quiet-just the two of us again-and we are vegging today. Nothing to do and no place to go. We'll get the Christmas stuff out Monday, but until then, we'll be taking it easy.

Finally a Change!

The weather finally seems to have realized that it's November. It's cool and thundery and rainy and will continue to be cool for the rest of the month. We shopped for the rest of the Thanksgiving goodies today and now it's hard not to just sit and read. Guess I need to get up and do my PT exercises. I'm going twice a week to see if they can get my neck pain to calm down. It's arthritis, but it's causing the muscles in my shoulders and neck to really knot up. This has been the first week of 6 weeks, so I guess I need to be patient and see how things feel closer to Christmas!

Mid-November and 85 degrees??

So...Just exactly where are we now? 'Cause I'm thinking there must be a 3rd summer in there somewhere. Either that, or somebody played the wild card.

Veteran's Day

So grateful for my dad and my father-in law's service and devotion to our country. During WWII, my dad served in the Army Air Corps in North Africa and Europe. My father-in-law served in the Navy in the Pacific. They were wonderful, Godly men and truly part of the Greatest Generation.

Life is Quiet

Not a lot going on right now, getting out in the mornings while it's relatively cool-as in mid to upper 80's instead of 100's)-...
