It's dark and rainy on this last day of 2012-not complaining though! We need the rain desperately and twice in one week is very welcome!
It's been quite a year with so many changes in our lives, it's good to be settled in and looking forward to the new year. There will be lots to do around the house, and hopefully a vegetable garden to put in this Spring. We're also looking forward to the next grandson who is due in just 3 weeks! (Our son and daughter in law's first baby.)
Our daughter is having surgery this week so we will be staying over there for the next few days until she is back home and on her feet. This will hopefully take care of some health issues she has been having and make the new year a good one for her and her family.
Wishing all of you a Happy New Year-may 2013 bring all good things to you and yours!

Legacy
This is my hubby rocking our grandson in a rocker that was given to my husband's grandparents as a wedding present 101 years ago today. (We inherited the rocker last year when my father-in-law died.)
My husband's father was rocked in this chair as a baby as was my husband, and our children were also rocked in it when we went to visit their grandparents. Now we're carrying on the tradition with our grandchildren. It's good to think of the generations of babies rocked to sleep through the years while we're cuddling in it with our own-a sweet legacy of love.

There's no place like home...
We now have internet so I may actually be a little better about posting! We are getting ready for Christmas-we've got the tree up with help from our two little tree decorators. We've trimmed the fireplace, hung the wreaths, started baking and fixed the plumbing. Hopefully the last doesn't become a holiday tradition! We got up several mornings ago and found the carpet in the downstairs bedroom very wet in one place. Going upstairs found the toilet in the master bathroom sitting in a growing pool of water. (We haven't managed to move upstairs yet, but we plan to this weekend!) A look around found a puddle of water on the back porch, so my poor husband is having to replace the entire toilet. Why do things like this wait until the holidays to happen? Especially when company is coming! Our daughter's family (they only live 30 miles away) are coming to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas with us. Our son and his wife arrive on the 28th for the weekend. The room with the wet carpet is a guest room, so we've had to pull up the carpet and keep the fans going to get it dry. My husband will also have to pull down a panel of the sheetrock and replace the soaked insulation in the guest room wall. He's so good-working hard to get it all done before Monday.
Here are a few pictures of last weekend when we put up the tree and made a gingerbread house:

We're In!!
We have finally moved into our house!! No internet yet-it seems to be a problem out here. I'm posting from my daughter's computer tonight while I'm grandkid sitting. We are enjoying the quiet evenings without the traffic noise. We are still covered up in boxes to unpack, but I'm hoping to get the Christmas decorations and tree out this weekend.
The munchkins had their pictures made last week-this picture has the photography studio's watermark on it; When I can scan a better one, I'll post it!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like....
....we may actually get to move into this house in time for Christmas! We now have a fully functional septic system-I know, not exactly what you might want to read about, but it's a big hurdle we needed to get past before we could move in! Now all we have to do is hook up to the water supply and we're in business. We bought pipe and moved it into the garage, and hubby starts digging the trench today. We can hopefully move in completely starting next weekend-I'm so ready!
