Happy October 31st!

Just a few funnies for today.

This will always be my favorite Halloween picture. My daughter carving a pumpkin while her daughter looks on! (That little girl is now almost 16 years old. What?!?)

Have a fun day!!

A Quiet Month

Seems like I just posted about the 1st of October last week and suddenly, here it is the 24th! It's been a nice, quiet month. Warmer than we would like, but oh, the days are gorgeous! Deep blue skies and trees beginning to turn. Our prairie fire sumacs and Virginia creepers are bright red now and the cottonwood trees are yellow and green mingled. Next month, our oaks will turn bronze and deep red. The trees know it's late October even if the thermometer doesn't! We are hoping for some rain next week and maybe temperatures in the 70's instead of upper 80's. I don't think it's rained in a month or more. Autumn always comes later this far south, but the last two years have been unusually warm and dry on into November.

I've been baking the small pie pumpkins, processing them and freezing them for pumpkin pies and bread for the holidays. It just tastes better than canned pumpkin to us. I bought 4, but when I cut one open, it was rotten. Still, I got four 2-cup containers out of the other three. 1 container equals 1 can of pumpkin. I made muffins with the small amount leftover and they were good. We like to spread them with cream cheese!

Our son and his two youngest (4 and 3) are coming for the weekend. Their older brothers are off showing cattle, so the littles are going to get a trip of their own to Mimi and Pops house. Guess I'll have to do some housework and bake some cookies!

Life is Quiet

Not a lot going on right now, getting out in the mornings while it's relatively cool-as in mid to upper 80's instead of 100's)-...
