It's been quite a month and I can't believe it's almost over. Time just seems to fly by these days. I had a lovely Mother's Day and then attended our oldest grandson Ryan's graduation from Pre-K. The hubs thinks all of these graduations before high school are silly, but we moms and grandmoms love them! Ryan was so cute and funny at his graduation and managed to fall both up the steps to the stage and down them afterward! Fortunately, It's only two steps and they are carpeted! He was quite a ham!

Yesterday, our oldest grandchild, Alissa graduated from 5th grade and elementary school. I just can't believe she will be in middle school this fall. My daughter called me this morning and said they had their 5th grade "clap-out" today. The 5th graders go down every hallway in the school and all of the lower grades line the halls and clap and cheer as they go by. She is now officially a 6th grader.

Our middle granddaughter Alaina, didn't have a graduation, but she did move up to 3rd grade on the straight A honor roll. She was very solemn.

Other than that, I have been a slug this week. I moved furniture and helped my daughter do some cleaning last week and somehow irritated my sciatic nerve. I've had problems with it since I was pregnant with our daughter (37 years ago) and about once a year, I do something that causes a flare up. I've been sitting in my recliner with a heating pad and anti-inflammatory meds since Monday. It is considerably better today, but still painful. Our son and his two boys (2 and 4 years old) are coming for the long weekend and my wonderful hubby has been cooking and doing some cleaning. We butchered and froze one of our heifers back in the fall and he has been wanting to do something with the tongue. (!) I haven't been too enthusiastic, but last week he put it in a curing solution-the same as you would use to make a corned beef brisket. He slow cooked it over night last night and sliced it thin today. Oh my-it is delicious!! We love corned beef, so we are pleased with the outcome. The texture is definitely different, but good. He now has a dutch oven of short ribs slow cooking in the oven and they smell heavenly! He is a great guy and a great cook!
