Just a few pictures of our grandson CH showing his steer, Big Red. We are so very proud of him! He didn't win any ribbons, but that didn't bother him a bit. He still had a great time, was very happy, gained some more experience and learned things he can put to good use. Both sets of grandparents, his mom, dad, little brother, little sister and his uncle who has been training him were all there to cheer him on. And that's the important stuff.
Back to normal (or what passes for normal around here)! The hubby and I are finally over whatever this upper respiratory stuff was and are feeling good. We are keeping grandpuppies this week and have had a visit from our middle grandson. We'll be taking him to watch his older brother show his steer in his 2nd ever show tomorrow and then he'll head home with his folks. Showing cattle, horses and sheep and raising show animals are what our daughter-in-law's family have done for years. She and her siblings grew up showing animals and now the boys are following in their footsteps. It's such a wonderful way for them to learn responsibility, love for animals and self-confidence. Middle grandson will start showing his sheep this fall.
Summer has finally decided to heat up here. We have really enjoyed the rain and 80 degree temps, but now it's going to get drier and the temps head up towards 100. (Which is much more like July and August weather here.) Guess I'd better get about the day-lot's of housework to catch up on! (ugh.)
Thank you so much for the sweet comments about my grandson and the get well wishes! I enjoy this blogging community so much! My doctor prescribed some antibiotics and an inhaler, so I hope to be better soon!
Not much going on here, except that I seem to have a sinus infection and croupy stuff that I'm afraid may be heading into bronchitis. I've been down for about a week. The soonest I can even schedule a teledoc visit with my doctor is Wednesday afternoon. (I've had the vaccine for better or worse, and I've also had the virus that shall not be named, so I don't think that's what this is.) This is my last month on my Obamacare HMO and I'm so glad. I never thought I'd be glad to be on Medicare, but when it starts August 1st, I sure will be. At least I'll be able to find a doctor I can see sooner if I think I need to. (My doctor is great and I really like her, but she is hard to get in to see even on a teledoc visit. Even her Nurse Practitioner is booked up until Wednesday.)
Ok, I've whined enough. I've been sicker than this many times and I'll probably be better by the time I can talk to the doctor!
Some things I'm grateful for:
My almost 9 year old grandson has Autism 1 and and is very high functioning. He has some big sensory issues one of which is getting water in his face and in his ears and nose. It usually results in screaming and crying. My daughter has been taking him and his big sisters to their neighborhood pool everyday and working with him, letting him do just the things he is comfortable with. She said yesterday, he put on a scuba-type mask that kept water off the upper part of his face and closed his nose. She said he not only put his head under water, but eventually was playing and paddling around underwater, all on his own. This is big for him and made my Mimi heart so happy. He has made other big strides in the last few months too-he has gotten up in front of the church twice now and read a scripture. He did beautifully and everyone was so happy including him! These are things he has chosen to do on his own and would not have considered doing just a few months ago.

We celebrated the 4th of July today, since our son and his family have to go home after lunch tomorrow. We had such a good time with our kids and grandkids. Unfortunately our son-in-law and daughter-in-law both had to work, so they couldn't be here. We ate lots of good food, the boys played games and the two teen and almost teen girls had a blast playing with their 18 month old cousin Rosie. She can say both of their names and is chattering up a storm and sings all of the time too. We did fireworks and even the baby got to hold a sparkler with a lot of help from her daddy. It was a wonderful day. If you are celebrating tomorrow, have a great and safe day!
