Surprise!
We have had lots of wind and rain, but woke to an unexpected snowfall this morning. It's beautiful, but it won't last long-temperatures are already creeping up above freezing.

The Day After
I hope everyone had a good Christmas! We had a wonderful time with our daughter's family. Everyone loved what they got-no squabbles between the grands(!)-just a great relaxing happy day!
We opted for Mexican food for Christmas dinner instead of another turkey. Posole (a pork, red chile and hominy stew):
Also tamales, beans (black and pinto), rice and chile rellenos (roasted whole green chiles stuffed with cheese, coated with an egg white batter and fried).
We made enough for an army so we have lots of great leftovers. We also had the usual assortment of Christmas cookies and chocolates. Today we're taking it easy and watching the storm roll in. A few hours northwest of us they are predicting a blizzard, but we are supposed to have cold wind, bad storms and flooding. It's getting very dark and starting to rain and thunder, so it's nice to be home and snuggled in for the weekend!

Ready?
Yes, I think so. Still have some food to buy and cooking to do before Friday and one more Dr's appointment (all routine-just trying to get it all in by the 31st since we have met our deductible.) The presents are all bought and wrapped. The halls have been sufficiently decked. I've been enjoying making some cross stitch ornaments for putting on the tree next year. Since we didn't get a tree up this year there's no rush to get them finished. I plan to make them all through the coming year and have a nice bunch but we'll see. Best laid plans... :-) Anyway-this pretty much sums up our chances of a white Christmas,,,

Peace
"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27

Still Here
We have been enjoying another round of grandbaby sitting this week, so I haven't had time to post-not that I'm very good at posting regularly! They will go home Sunday, then we will have Monday to clean house and recuperate. The next 2 days are doctor appointments and tests for both of us. Then we sing at our church Candlelight Christmas Eve service. Christmas will be at our daughter's house and then we will have a couple of days off before we drive to another Christmas in New Mexico! It will be fun, but I'll be glad when 2016 gets here so we can get some rest!

Joy!
Luke 2:8-14 (NLT) ~
That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”
Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
