Thanksgiving

I'm so very, very thankful for the many blessings I've been given. Thankful to be living minutes from our daughter and her family, thankful for little girls coloring pictures of turkeys and baby boys wearing "my first thanksgiving" sleepers. I'm thankful that our son and his wife are spending Thanksgiving with dear family friends since they can't be here with us. Thankful to have gotten in touch with my brother and hearing how wonderful he sounds, and proud that he is spending his Thanksgiving cooking and serving dinner to those unable to care for themselves alone. Thankful for our new home and thankful to be living in this country-it's far from perfect, but we have so much.

Fall Color

As far south as we are, it takes fall color a while to show up. In the countryside around our new home, it's just now at it's peak. I took these about 18 miles north of us.

We had to make a run up to the county offices and stopped to get some pictures of the leaves. I just have a "point and click" camera, but I think they turned out all right.

There is a beautiful sandstone courthouse in town. I borrowed this photo-they had scaffolding up around the building today, so I didn't take a picture.

We're staying busy cleaning, unpacking and repairing things. (A lot of the electrical wiring needs to be redone, so my hubby has been busy with that today. So thankful that he can do things like that!) We are hoping to move in 3 weeks from now, just in time to celebrate Christmas with our kids and grandkids there.

Home Sweet Home

Welcome to my new followers! I'm afraid I often forget to welcome new followers, and to thank all of my followers, so please know how much I appreciate all of you! Your lovely comments (and your patience with my going on and on about my grandkids) makes me feel very special. I don't feel like my ramblings can be all that interesting to anyone else, so I do thank you all very much!

A long awaited day finally arrived yesterday. We signed the papers and got the keys to our new home! This is the culmination of years of praying, dreaming, planning, working, eliminating debt and cutting corners so we could save, and I'm beyond thrilled that thanks to God and my wonderful husband's management, we are going into this one debt-free!! This will be our home for the next 20-25 years-or until we're too old to live out by ourselves. (We're 56 and 58, so we look forward to a long stay!) We had thought to build a house, but when we stumbled across this one, it was exactly what we had in mind. We were able to negotiate a price better than what we could have built it for. The house has been vacant for a couple of years, so there is some cleaning, painting and plumbing to be done, but we should be able to move completely in by this time next month. Our kids and grandkids will be joining us for Christmas there! We have been very blessed and are so grateful.

Lots of trees and space

Thanks for your patience-I'm pretty excited. This is the start of a new adventure for us-especially me, as I have never lived out in the country before.

11-11-12

Remembering my dad and my father-in-law, part of the 'Greatest Generation".  It won't be very long until the veterans of WWII will all be gone. My dad passed in 2007, and my dad-in-law last November. So grateful for their service to our country and for their great example to their children. Love and miss them both.

The Day After...

......and life goes on whatever side you're on. Now back to the day to day of living the best way that I can in whatever circumstances arise. God is in control and I'm more than ok with that.

The Big Day

Today is the day, and I am grateful to have the right to vote my conscience. I'm grateful to have more than one candidate to choose from. I'm grateful that I didn't feel threatened at the polls...but I'm really, really grateful that today is the last day of political campaign ads on TV (and everywhere else)! This is a very close race-let's just hope that this time,it doesn't take weeks before we know who won.

Now for the best part of today-off to babysit play with the grandkids!

Halloween

This is a day or two late, but thought I'd share pictures of my little trick or treaters.

He's two months old now and getting so big-smiling and cooing lots now. It's hard not to just hold him all the time!

This year's Disney Princesses, Ariel and Snow White. Ariel was less than thrilled with having her picture made-she wanted to get out and Trick or Treat. We went to the Fall Festival at our church where they played games, won prizes and bounced in those big inflatable bouncy castles. A far cry from Halloween when I was little!

We hope to close on our new home next week-just waiting on paperwork now. I can't wait to be able to start painting and getting moved in-we're hoping to have a family Christmas there this year!
