44

44 years ago today, the southern New Mexico heat was searing-104 F and single digit humidity. As we made our way out of town after our wedding reception, a thunderstorm was coming in. We stopped at the top of a hill and opened the doors of our old Ford Fairlane to let out the balloons that had been stuffed into it by our friends and family. As we watched, the wind from the storm took them and blew them down the hill and off into the night. That moment still stands out in my mind as I look back on that day-we're still standing on a hill, looking off into the future. Sometimes with joy,  sometimes with trepidation, but still together, still very much in love.

June Already?!?

Time really flies by the older I get. We went to our oldest grandson's Kindergarten graduation yesterday. What a difference a year makes! His parents had real concerns about putting him in Kindergarten since he didn't even turn 5 until the day before school started. He had a pretty rocky start to the year, but is now reading at a 1st grade level, behavior problems have sorted themselves out and he is a very happy boy! He sang at the top of his lungs, paid attention and thoroughly enjoyed himself. We're very grateful for the hard work of his excellent teacher.

I've been enjoying all of the blogs showing gardens and beautiful flowers. It makes me want to do some planting and gardening, but our temperatures are already over 100F everyday and we are now into a drought. I think I'm going to just enjoy the pictures instead! Today's heat index is supposed to be 110! You'd think we'd get some rain with this humidity, but evidently it doesn't work that way!

We're gearing up for VBS at our church later this month. Our music minister and children's minister collaborate every year to write a play with songs and great dialogue. This year is "Mary-The Journey to the Cross". It's the story of Jesus as seen through His mother's eyes. My husband and I have small parts this year so we have been learning our lines and going to rehearsals. Tomorrow we learning the "finale" which is sung to the tune of "Come Alive" from The Greatest Showman". They have written appropriate lyrics for the story. It's going to involve a few steps of "choreography" we're told. Oh Dear. We are not good dancers as anyone who attended our son and daughter-in-love's wedding reception will attest to! It should be interesting-I will try not to run into any props or fall off the stage!

Life is Quiet

Not a lot going on right now, getting out in the mornings while it's relatively cool-as in mid to upper 80's instead of 100's)-...
