Not Sure...

...what to call this post. Nothing big going on, just day to day life which is pretty quiet around here. (Which is how we like it.)

My husband designed and made this beautiful hall tree out of reclaimed wood! (The top isn't really wider than the bottom. I'm just a lousy photographer.) 😄

When we are in our daughter's neighborhood and see a nice piece of solid wood furniture sitting out on the curb, we stop and pick it up! This was once a dresser and captain's bed. I'm so proud of him!

We met with our church small-group last night. We live almost an hour away, so we don't always get to both of the twice a month meetings. They are a great group and at 68 and 70, we are the youngest, though not by a whole lot! We enjoyed it.

Other than that, not a lot to talk about. Guess we will make a trip to New Mexico next month. We haven't been in 2 years, and we really need to go. We love our family there but we're not crazy about southern NM. I was born and raised there, but I have never really liked it. It's not a place I have ever felt at home like I do here in north Central Texas. I didn't enjoy our 7+ years in northern New Mexico, though it was a beautiful place. Oh well. Sorry to sound so whiny. It's the time of year when I have a hard time really wanting to do anything. It will be better the closer we get to Spring!

Anyway, that's about it. Have a good week!

Snow Day!

It's not much compared to places up north, but for Texas 2-3" is a good snow! Schools are closed and most businesses. We lived in the mountains of northern New Mexico back in the 80's and got used to having deep snow on the ground all winter, but I never learned to really like it. I'm glad to be back in the land of snow that is here today and gone tomorrow. It will be in the 60's for high temperatures next week.

It's just 31F now, but it's expected to be colder overnight and the roads will be icy tomorrow. Anyway, the snow is sure pretty and I'm glad to enjoy it from the comfort of my recliner inside the house! My husband got out and took the pictures.

"We Now Resume Normal Programming"

Guess that phrase shows my age! I remember when I was a kid, hearing that on TV after the news had broken into a show for a news bulletin. Not sure what passes for "normal" these days. At our age, it's Dr. appointments, hobbies, grandkids and puttering around the house! (Have I said lately how much we love being retired!?)

Christmas is all put away and the house is back to semi-normal. We sent a steer to be processed last month and we picked up the meat last week. The house is now filled with the lovely aroma of a roast in the crockpot for tonight's dinner!

I don't make New Year's resolutions anymore, life is too short and things change too quickly. If I can take each day as it comes and use the opportunities God gives me to His glory, that will be more than enough. I do make plans,  but with the knowledge that He knows best and his timing is always perfect.

Life is Quiet

Not a lot going on right now, getting out in the mornings while it's relatively cool-as in mid to upper 80's instead of 100's)-...
