Nuthin' Much

Really not a lot going on, which is a good thing. When we'd visit my Dad years ago, he'd say "Tell something exciting that's going on." and I'd always answer, "Daddy, I avoid exciting as much as possible."

It's turning out to be a gorgeous spring. Our son and two youngest grandsons came for the weekend and went home today. Our daughter and our oldest grandson and middle granddaughter came for to visit yesterday so the boys could spend the day playing. My daughter and I got down in the floor and realized that push-ups have now joined the ever growing list of stuff I can't do anymore. (Not that I ever did very many.) That's ok-we got plenty of exercise just trying to get back up off the floor!

We all went to church today and that's really about it. Oh yeah, I went to gather asparagus out in the asparagus bed this afternoon, and stood in a fire ant pile-that was fun. I didn't have any Benadryl cream to put on my burning, itching red foot, so I ground up a Benadryl tablet, added a little alcohol and dabbed it on my foot. Amazingly, it seems to be working!! The redness, pain and itching are just about gone. I'll have to remember that! (Because the fire ants multiply faster than we can kill them out here!)

Hope your weekend was good and that you have a great week! 😊

Saturday

Beautiful spring weather-the bluebonnets, paintbrushes and other wildflowers are out in abundance and everything is so green.

Thank you so much for all of the kind comments on my last post. I saw the oral surgeon on Thursday, who assured me that everything looks great and is healing well. But my tooth-grinding is probably what is causing a lot of the pain. He also said that it was a rough extraction and it will take time for everything to heal. I feel a whole lot better just being reassured that my body is doing just what it's supposed to. (It's always such a surprise to me-I always expect things to go wrong. Guess I'm just a teeny bit of a worry wart!) He's a really good surgeon and a really nice person too. The tooth they took out had a big gold crown on it. He asked if I would mind donating it to someone who sells dental gold and uses the money to help children in need. I think it's a great idea!

Planning to enjoy this beautiful weekend. Looking forward to starting our Sunday School up again tomorrow at church. The adult bible studies will be starting back too. It's good to see some things "getting back to normal".

Just a Note

We had a wonderful Easter with lots of food, family and egg hunting!

Our littlest grandbaby had her first egg hunt and enjoyed it, but poor baby came down with a stomach bug that evening and spent much of that night throwing up! (It wasn't because of candy, she didn't have any. Her eggs were filled with fruit gummies and marshmallows, but all she ate was one marshmallow.) Her older brother had an upset stomach that morning, but bounced back by church time and had no more trouble. No one else has gotten sick, fortunately.

The 3 grandsons had a great time. They are as close as brothers and just love being together! The oldest two are eight years old and the little guy is 6. (Sorry about the photo quality.)

I had my extraction and bone graft a week ago, and the swelling has gone down. The stitches have dissolved and the bruising is fading, but I'm a little concerned about the amount of pain I'm still having, so I will probably call the office tomorrow. I don't go back for a re-check until the 13th.

It's Still Friday, and Sunday is Still Coming!

I posted this on Good Friday last year. It's something I post on many Good Fridays because I love the hope expressed in this sermon by S.M. Lockridge. Last year, it meant so much to read it while we were in lockdown, our world turned upside by a virus. Now, looking back on all of the events of this past year, it seems to me that so much has been turned upside down and is out of control.  I've wondered "how much worse will it get?" I needed to re-read these things today to be reminded that God is in complete control, not our leaders or any other persons or things. When it seems like "Friday" will never end, I need to remember that the war has already by won by our Lord. "Sunday" is truly coming, and when it does, none of what is happening in the world will matter any longer. We will rejoice in the presence of our Lord because He humbled himself and took our sin to the cross on a Friday over 2000 years ago.

I post this every Good Friday, but it has even more meaning for me this year. No matter how hard it seems today, the day is coming when this will all be over. Not just isolation and the virus, but all of our sorrows and fears, all sickness and death will be over. Because of all that Jesus did for us on that Friday so long ago.

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

It may be Friday now, but Sunday's coming! Praise God!

It’s Friday

Jesus is praying
Peter’s a sleeping
Judas is betraying
But Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
Pilate’s struggling
The council is conspiring
The crowd is vilifying
They don’t even know
That Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The disciples are running
Like sheep without a shepherd
Mary’s crying
Peter is denying
But they don’t know
That Sunday’s a comin’

It’s Friday
The Romans beat my Jesus
They robe him in scarlet
They crown him with thorns
But they don’t know
That Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
See Jesus walking to Calvary
His blood dripping
His body stumbling
And his spirit’s burdened
But you see, it’s only Friday
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The world’s winning
People are sinning
And evil’s grinning

It’s Friday
The soldiers nail my Savior’s hands
To the cross
They nail my Savior’s feet
To the cross
And then they raise him up
Next to criminals

It’s Friday
But let me tell you something
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The disciples are questioning
What has happened to their King
And the Pharisees are celebrating
That their scheming
Has been achieved
But they don’t know
It’s only Friday
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
He’s hanging on the cross
Feeling forsaken by his Father
Left alone and dying
Can nobody save him?

Ooooh
It’s Friday
But Sunday’s comin’
It’s Friday
The earth trembles
The sky grows dark
My King yields his spirit
It’s Friday
Hope is lost
Death has won
Sin has conquered
and Satan’s just a laughin’
It’s Friday
Jesus is buried
A soldier stands guard
And a rock is rolled into place
But it’s Friday
It is only Friday
Sunday is a comin’!

October!
