With Apologies to The Music Man

 ...and Wells Fargo.

We just drove up to the house to find an Amazon package. We had the usual conversation trying to remember if we had ordered anything and what it might be. I was inspired...which is always dangerous. Profuse apologies to the Music Man and Wells Fargo...🤣😂🤪🤪
Oh the Amazon Van is a coming down the street,
Oh please don’t let it be for me…
Oh the Amazon Van is a coming down the street,
I’ve no idea just what it could be.
I might have bought a bra for the milk cow,
Or house shoes for the cat and the dog.
Assorted kitchen gadgets I don’t need,
A tiny bathtub for the hamster and a Real Live Frog!
Oh the Amazon Van is a coming down the street,
Oh please let it pass my door.
Oh the Amazon Van is a coming down the street
I’m scared to think just what it’s coming for!
It could be a new Suzuki,
I just don’t remember,
But I’m hiding,
In the basement,
Hope it stops next door!

True Confessions on a Blustery Day

Looks like the wind is starting early this year. Usually spring is our really windy time, but it's gusting up to 40 mph and cold so after lunch, Walmart and a trip to the dump, we're home for the rest of the day.  The dump is becoming a regular stop since I'm spending my days working my way through all of the "black holes" in my house. (The places that suck up junk and useless stuff if it gets too close. 😂) I have decided to change what I have called "the sewing room" for years. I was hopeful that some actual sewing might take place in there, but I have finally had to admit that I could count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I have actually sewn anything this past year. (And still have fingers left over.) I'm not getting rid of my machine, but I am downsizing the amount of fabric and sewing paraphernalia that I have been hoarding for years. I dreamed about quilting and struggled through a few rag quilts before I finally admitted to myself that I really don't want to quilt. My daughter-in-law and her mom love to quilt, so I am gifting a lot of fabric to them. I'm keeping some pieces of homespun for a while to see if anything develops. I love primitive accents in my home and may make some patchwork pillows or something.

Anyway, my plan is to make this room (it's a big finished out attic room) into a TV room-spare bedroom. We now have teen and almost teenaged granddaughters who would love a sanctuary from the little kids when they visit. I have a daybed and trundle up there already. A TV table that my husband made years ago is also up there as well as 3 (yes, 3!) working TV sets. I will keep a corner for my sewing, but I don't think I'll need more than that. My real love is counted cross stitch and I'm really enjoying spending the evenings stitching and watching British TV mysteries. We have made a pretty complete break from endless news watching day and night and we both feel much better for it. Better get back to it-have a good one!

I have to confess-I've had a really hard time with my attitude over the last year. I started out ok, but as the year progressed and things seemed to go from bad to worse, my attitude did too. I feel like I've gotten angrier and more cynical. I don't like feeling this way and it's time for me to be better about trusting God and trying to bring Him honor and glory in what I do and say.

I've never been one for choosing a particular word for the year, but I decided I needed a scripture to concentrate on this year. This is the one I've chosen:

I love the idea of growing my roots down deep into Christ so that I can have a firm foundation in Him. I need to have a stronger faith and I really need to be more thankful! My husband and I have also decided that the news that we allow into our lives will be much, much less this year. We have kept the news channels pretty much off since the elections and it has already made a difference in our peace of mind. Only God knows the future and He will carry us through no matter what men may do.

Life is Quiet

Not a lot going on right now, getting out in the mornings while it's relatively cool-as in mid to upper 80's instead of 100's)-...
