Not Much Going On...

There doesn't seem to be much to post about-it has been hot and humid with storms until this week. We're getting into what is usually the dry part of the summer. It's hot, but the humidity is much better. We've taken care of grandkids and gone about our usual business. We're getting ready to take 3 of our 4 steers to auction. Dry weather means not as much grass and we only have a few acres so we don't need 4 growing steers. We will keep one to finish out and butcher at the end of the fall.

Our chickens are as goofy as ever. We have 7 hens and a rooster. He's very protective (or cranky) so I take one of the grandkids plastic rakes with me when I go to gather eggs. He likes to run up and try to spur whoever comes into the chicken yard and a "rooster whacker" comes in handy! ( I don't whack him much. He is more of a "hit and run" guy.) We have 3 nice nest boxes in the chicken coop, but the girls all seem to think that they have to use the same nest to lay their eggs.

We plan to take a quick trip (3 hours) up to take care of our son and 2 youngest grandboys. They are all down with sore throats and all the stuff that goes with that. Our daughter-in-law is getting her nursing degree and has to be gone all day today and tomorrow with classes and clinicals. Our son called last night and said on top of that, they have a leak in the house and one of the cars is on the blink, so we're going to go lend a little moral support and chicken soup.

Life is Quiet

Not a lot going on right now, getting out in the mornings while it's relatively cool-as in mid to upper 80's instead of 100's)-...
