The Day After

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with all of our children and grandchildren! Our son and his crew were here the 23rd and 24th and then had to leave early Christmas morning. We spent Christmas Day with our daughter and her family. I don't think I took a single picture, but it's ok-it's all right here in my heart, and it was all wonderful! Today it is quiet and my husband and I are vegging and nibbling on Christmas goodies.

Good grief, it has been a strange autumn and first few days of winter weather-wise. It's supposed to be 85 F today.  We will finally cool down on Monday with a high in the 40's and a low in the 20's which is more like normal for us this time of year. All of the trees have lost their leaves, so at least it looks like winter! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Our Christmas Eve Grandbaby

11 years ago, we were singing at the Christmas Eve Service. A video was showing and ended with the words "...and a child is born."  My husband's phone rang just at that time-it was our son telling us that our 3rd grandson had just been born. Happy Birthday to our Henry-kind, smart, big-hearted and an absolute joy to be with!

Better Late Than Never

Remember I said a few posts back that the oaks were being stubborn and not turning? Well, they finally gave in and it has been pretty the last few days. It's only a month late. These leaf colors are generally what we see in mid-November. Today is cloudy and cool and the smell of wood smoke is everywhere. Tonight and tomorrow night are supposed to be in the 20's, so I imagine the leaves will mostly be gone after this weekend. Glad we were able to get out today. Thank you for your kind thoughts for my husband. His ablation went perfectly and now he just has to rest and take it easy for a week or two. Not something he likes to do! He is more tired than he thought he would be, but at our age you don't just snap back anymore. Plus, we still have the sinus stuff, though no fever or anything.  Anyway, here are a few photos I took while we were out today. I'm not a great photographer, but hopefully, it will give you an idea of how pretty the oaks are right now.

This one is in our front pasture. It's redder in person than this picture shows.

This is the view across the Farm to Market road from our front pasture.

October!
