Wildflowers

We have some beautiful wildflowers out here in North Central Texas. Of course there are the bluebonnets which we all love-they are just getting started and are already in big banks by the road side.

We don't have any of those on our property-I'm thinking about planting some in a corner of our land where so many other wildflowers grow. The number of paintbrushes is amazing this year! They are usually bright red-orange, but today I found a yellow one. I had never seen one and looked it up-evidently they are somewhat rare.

My phone camera doesn't do the colors justice-they are much brighter in person. This next one is a phlox.

And these are called Scrambled Eggs! I can just imagine a little pioneer girl seeing these and thinking that was what they looked like.

This is a field pansy.

This is henbit.

What I love most about these last four is how very tiny and yet how intricate they are. The blossoms are no larger than 1/2 an inch, some of them smaller! Yet they bear a resemblance to much larger flowers. Miniature lilies and orchids!

We have an amazing God! He shows His power and might in the great oceans and storms, and yet makes these tiny field flowers so beautiful.

Pi Day

It's Pi Day, but I made cookies instead. That figures-I was never any good at math! Guess I should have made these instead of chocolate chip!!

October!
