Mama

 My sweet Mom. Some things you just don't understand about your mom until you're one yourself.  Wish I could tell her that I get it now. She did the very best that she could and she loved us so very much. And I know that she thought it was never good enough. But it was. ❤ Thank you Mama. Happy Mother's Day in the arms of Jesus.

Breaking Up Housekeeping, A Birthday and Mother's Day

I had never heard this phrase until an aunt told me one time that her Grandmother, who could no longer live by herself was "breaking up housekeeping" to go into a nursing home. 

My lovely mother-in-law has been living on her own in a seniors apartment complex since 2011, when my father-in-law passed away. She has needed more and more help as the years have gone by and has finally come to the point that she can no longer live by herself and needs more care than her family can give her. She has had to move to a nursing home, so we are visiting her in New Mexico this weekend. She will be 95 tomorrow and we will be celebrating her birthday and Mother's Day with dinner and a cake. The home is setting up a room just for her celebration. My husband's brother and sister have been packing up the apartment, having the kids and grands choose the things that they would like to have and getting ready to find new owners for her furniture. It's sad-kind of the end of an era for her children, grandchildren and great-grands. There's always been a "Grandma's House".  

She is the very last living member of her immediate family, the baby of 7 children. Her oldest brothers and sisters were in their 20's when she was born.
