Grandma Brain

 I realized today that my brain no longer functions in Mom mode, but in Grandma mode. My 9 and 7 year old grandsons love their Hungry, Hungry Hippos game, but are down to 2 marbles.  My first thought after seeing them try to play it that way was  "aww, poor boys" and I immediately ordered another set of marbles from Amazon.  Today I realized that my daughter-in-law's mom brain was probably thinking "I can't wait until all of the marbles are lost so that we can get rid of that incredibly loud, annoying game." Because 35 years ago, my mom brain so would have thought that. Oops...

Still Hot

 Nearly two weeks later and we are still on Hell's Front Porch and no signs that we are getting off any time soon. Still no rain and none in sight. Sold our 4 cows, because our grass is dead and hay and feed are too expensive. 105 today, 107 tomorrow and 110 Tuesday. 

Arizona, your weather is wandering around lost over here in Texas. You need to come get it and take it home!!

HOT!!

 Looks like we gave summer a miss and shot straight onto Hell's Front Porch...

Triple digits (106 F today) until Wednesday next week. Guess we'll see if our power grid works better now than it did during the sub zero weather in Feb. of 2020. 

Quiet 4th

 We had a nice, but very quiet 4th of July here. The first I can remember since we moved here where it was just the two of us. My daughter's family all had separate plans-now that the girls are teens they have their own agenda! Our son-in-law has just gotten back from an overseas trip and was exhausted, so the grandson and daughter stayed home with him and enjoyed having him back! Our son and his family were part of a small town celebration with a parade and day long activites. They are involved with 4H (which is wonderful!), so they had a float to make for the parade and booth to man for the day. I have what seems to be a bad cold, so we relaxed and grilled steaks. We are in the middle of a pretty bad drought, so we couldn't have done our usual fireworks anyway. 

Our Vacation Bible School starts today and hopefully we will go tomorrow night. They put on a musical for the kids after the bible classes and our daughter will be singing a solo tomorrow night! It is based on the miracles of Jesus. Our children's minister writes a new musical every year incorporating popular songs from Disney movies and other current musicals using her own lyrics. She is one talented lady and we also have some serious singing talent in our church family! It should be fun!
