Goodbye November

Amazing how fast this year has gone by-seems like I say that every year about this time. We are finally over the crud. We went down to our church building and helped decorate for Christmas. I haven't had the opportunity to do this before and it was fun! I'm looking forward to getting my own tree and decorations out now. Guess I needed a little nudge to get me in the right frame of mind.

I've been making some cross stitch ornaments for the tree and hope to get those finished soon. I've really been enjoying stitching in the evenings. Not much else going on-husband will be going to our daughter's tomorrow to see if he can sort out whether it's her alternator or battery that's keeping her car from starting. I'm thinking I'll stay home, put on some Christmas music and catch up on some housework!

The Gift That Keeps on Giving...

...but no one wants it! We now have three down with the stomach bug-four if you count our youngest grandchild that seems to have started it all. One of them is me, although I haven't been as sick as the others. Hopefully we can get this all out of the way before the Christmas Holidays get here!

Another Thanksgiving in the Books...

...and it was a good one! The last of the holiday company just drove away and the house is very quiet. We played with grandchildren, met our new grand nephew, reminisced with our children and siblings, ate too much good food and watched a lot of football and Thomas the Tank Engine.  Now to relax for a week before starting to think about Christmas decorations!

Noooooo!

I've got a houseful of people coming for Thanksgiving and I'm sick! Started out like a cold, but now high fever and much worse a week later. I'll going in to the Dr. today so she can hopefully work some miracles!  Seriously, my daughter and my husband are helping out a lot-I just need to back on my feet before Thursday!

Half Over Already??

Time is flying by. How can November be almost half over? Guess time flies when you're having fun. We had all the grands over here playing with each other Saturday. Next week we get to do it again at Thanksgiving! Plus I'll get to meet my newest grand nephew. Looking forward to what I think of as the start of the holidays. I'm cross stitching some ornaments for the tree this year. We'll see how they turn out.

This and That

Well, we've finally had a chance to sit down and catch our breath. We put a couple thousand miles on the car last week-first to Odessa, TX and back for our friend's funeral and then out to New Mexico and back to visit family and attend a cousins reunion. It was tiring, but uplifting to see family and so many old friends.

Monday, we attended our oldest grandchild's first band concert. She is learning to play clarinet. The beginning band has classes according to the instrument they play and haven't played together yet. Each section showed all they have learned since they started in August. I was really impressed! The next concert will be next month and they will play as one band. We're looking forward to it. This is her first year in middle school and she's having to learn about handling multiple classes and prioritizing her activities. She's always been able to make A's without any work, so this has been a new concept for her! She's 11, which seems young to me for all that they are having to do, but I guess that's the grandma in me!

Our resident mated pair of hawks played a Halloween trick on us Tuesday and treated themselves to a rooster dinner. I guess he went down doing his job protecting the hens-he stood his ground while they ran and hid. Kind of sad not to hear him crowing in the morning (and all day long).  Hawks are protected by federal law, so we will just have to be more careful of letting our hens out of the chicken yard. We probably won't replace him. He was a good rooster, but he was pretty aggressive and had spurred all of us at least once.

Guess I will be getting ready for Thanksgiving soon-hard to believe it's already that time of year!
