Yep.

Well, evidently Buc-ee didn't see his shadow last month because Spring seems to have sprung here in Texas. Hopefully it's not just fool's spring or the spring of deception.

Now, we await The Pollening...

Fyi-for those unfamiliar with Buc-ee, Buc-ee's is a Texas institution and Buc-ee is it's mascot. It's a super-sized travel stop where you can buy anything from pretty decent fast food and Texas souvenirs to gasoline.

The north has Punxsutawney Phil, the south has General Beauregard Lee and some places in Texas even rely on Prairie Dog Pete to predict the timing of Spring. I, however, prefer Buc-ee. He doesn't have to be coaxed from a hole and he doesn't bite. He just stands there 24/7, 365 days a year with arms open wide in welcome and a toothy grin. Even if he sees his shadow he doesn't get scared. That's what I call reliable.

Amazing!

Spring is getting an early start here and I was out with my phone camera this morning enjoying the teeny, tiny wildflowers (weeds) growing in our yard. They are so small and perfect, they look like miniature versions of orchids, violets and other larger flowers. I'm amazed by their intricacies and to me, they show in tiny "snapshots" the glory and power of God their creator. These are flowers no bigger than the eraser on the top of a pencil, some even smaller yet absolutely perfect. Our God is an amazing God!

This and That

We celebrated our sweet girl's birthday on Saturday! Doesn't seem possible that she is grown with two teenagers and a tweenager!

Also, our youngest 10 year old grandson (We have 2, they are 4 months apart) showed his Charolais heifer "Sweet Chic" at the San Antonio Livestock show this past weekend and placed 5th in the largest group. This was his first year to go to the big show there and we are very proud of him!

We celebrated Valentine's Day by staying home and cooking our own steaks (from our own homegrown beef). They were delicious!

After Icepocalypse

Well, we made it through the storm-stayed home and stayed cozy. We didn't have the bad ice that they had south of us and we are very thankful for that! No broken tree limbs or power outages here, though we had a skating rink on the back porch for a while. Yesterday was a beautiful spring-like day, but today is cool, dark and rainy. Can't complain about that, we need the moisture! Other than that, things are pretty quiet around here which is fine with me!

Febrrrrruary!

We had enough sleet Monday to make it look like it had snowed. Yesterday it wasn't too bad, but the roads were terrible and many were closed. Our predicted ice storm has just started, so we are home for the long haul. As long as we don't lose power, I'm happy to "hunker down" and stay in. My husband finished the kitchen cabinets and downstairs bathroom cabinets and is now refinishing the laundry room cabinets! He's got it down to a fine art and is doing a beautiful job. I've got a pot of pinto beans on the stove and we'll have that for supper with smoked sausage and cornbread. Life is good!

October!
