Cleaning up my act...
I am pretty much a "whipped cream on the garbage can" type housekeeper. It looks alright if you don't look too closely. (Also, if it's up where I can't see it, it doesn't exist. Like the top of the refrigerator.) However, there are things that eventually, even I can't stand to look at anymore. Today, it's the outside of the windows and the screens. Oh my. We've lived in this house nearly 9 years and I've generally just given them a lick and a promise every year (or so). So today, I took down screens and scrubbed them with a brush and soapy water and hosed them down. (I know-I can hardly believe it myself!) Then swept and hosed down around the windows much to the chagrin on many spiders who thought they were well hidden.
I did ask the hubby to take care of a wasp nest in the top corner of one window. I know my limits and have serious doubts about being able to outrun an angry wasp! (I was really surprised that there was only one nest. We are usually covered up with them by now. I think our deep freeze in February got some of them.)
I plan to get the squeegee and window cleaner out this afternoon and actually wash them. (This is just the downstairs windows. The outsides of the second story windows are on their own. We can still see out of them as far as I can tell.) 😉
Next week, I'll take on the inside of the windows. I hope to be able to actually move around again by then!

June
It's been such an unusually cool (high 70's-low 80's) rainy May and June looks to be shaping up to be the same. By now, it's usually in the mid to upper 90's and the spring rain is just a memory. I'll take it, though. I'm sure summer will be here soon enough and we will be wishing for the cool rainy weather again!

Not Much Going On
...except lots of storms and rain. Can't complain about the rain. It's so green beautiful here and our pasture is thick and tall. Our cows are in hog heaven-or maybe heifer heaven!
We went to New Mexico the Thursday before Mother's Day to celebrate my mother-in-law's 94th birthday. She has been and is the very best MIL that anyone could hope for. More of a second mother to me. We enjoyed visiting with her and my husband's brother and sister and ate lots of wonderful mexican food. We did a little driving around our hometown and reminiscing as well. We were nearly 19 and 21 when he graduated from university and we left home to live somewhere else for the first time in our lives. We had already been married almost 2 years! Hard to imagine getting married that young now-God was definitely watching over us and guiding our steps! Drove back home on Mother's Day and hubby took me out for a steak dinner on the way. It's an 11 hour drive and we were about done in-it may soon be time to start flying there and back!
Other than that, we are just doing the every day stuff which is pretty nice, I think. We are helping make a few things for our church's VBS next month. I'm going to revamp a couple of old chairs and make them thrones for the story of Esther. My husband made a frame to hold a curtain that goes across the "stage" at the front of the auditorium/sanctuary. It's seen better days after a number of years so he's revamping that. We have acted and sung in the programs in past years, but have decided to work "behind the scenes" now. Twice weekly rehearsals and the hours of standing and dancing (!) are harder for us now and they really need people to help out in other ways.
That's about it-have a great week!
